Marvel at the Greatness of Jerusalem
It doesn’t take much to recognize that we are living in a war-torn world. Violence, murder, hatred, gangs and warlords fill the news every day, perpetrating atrocities on innocent human beings, old and young alike.
And while not all wars are centered around Jerusalem, this city of God has been the center of many of the wars fought down through the centuries and millenniums of time. She is once again taking center stage in our times and will once more at the end of time be the focal point of hostilities as Satan leads the armies of the world to surround this city and fight against the Jewish people and God’s holy city!
So how can we find peace in this unbalanced world? Uniquely, learning to love what God loves, celebrate what God rejoices in, and obey the Lord’s instructions from God’s Word has the power to bring us joy and peace in the midst of heartache, tragedy, sorrow – even when living in a war-torn world.
Pastor Mark Geer explores verses three through five of Psalm 122 with a focus on the esteem and greatness of the city of Jerusalem. This city that brought the Messiah, Jesus Christ, as well as King David and the Jewish people much joy and peace had certain characteristics that drew fond affection and reverence. Some of these attributes parallel symbolically things that should also be present and reflected in the church today.
Our Big Idea is that when David’s affection and the Messiah’s affection increasingly become our spiritual affection we too will marvel at the greatness of Jerusalem and find JOY and PEACE in this war-torn world!
We pray you find hope and peace through today’s message in spite of the heartache that currently fills our world. Shalom.
