#2 The Journey to Bethlehem

Join us as we take a journey this holiday season with the Biblical characters of the Christmas Story.

Pastor Mark Geer leads us on this glorious adventure from “The Journey of Faith” that Joseph and Mary took, and “The Journey to Bethlehem” they adventured on, as well as “The Journey to the Manger” undertaken by the shepherds and also Jesus Christ from glory, followed by the wise men from the East.

The Christmas Story is a story of faith and trust, obedience, and humility. Come let God speak to you as you draw close to Him in worship and the Word this Christmas season.

In today’s message “The Journey to Bethlehem” we follow the journey of Mary, first to the hill country of Judah where she meets her relative Elizabeth, who was also miraculously with child! After a short stay, she returns to Nazareth only to be greeted with the news that they must make an arduous journey to Bethlehem for taxation. Yet in each of these journeys, as Mary and Joseph’s faith is tested, we find that it brings continued blessings of joy as they watch the plan of God unfold in their lives. We close the message with the story of the journey of the Magi from the East who traveled over 900 miles to Bethlehem to discover this newborn King of Israel! In each of these travels it is clear that God walks with them, protects them, sustains them with faith and joy, and ultimately reveals to them His Only Begotten Son – Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world!

As we traverse this earth in our own spiritual journey, the good news is that God is still walking alongside of us today! He has never left us, but is Immanuel – God with Us!  The equation of faith, plus anticipation in the fulfillment of God’s plans always results in abundant joy, unspeakable and full of glory! This Advent season, may you know the joy of Christ’s birth and His presence in your life like never before.
