Message #16 – The Triunity of God: The Holy Trinity (Part 3) – “The Father is God”

Jan 24, 2021    Pastor Mark Geer    Series: Systematic Theology for Daily Living / Text: Isaiah 9:6-7; Malachi 2:10; Galatians 1:1-5; 4:6-7; John 1:18; 6:46; Ephesians 4:4-6; 2 Peter 1:17-18

In today's message we are continuing to look at the topic of the Holy Trinity and for the next three Sundays will be examining what the Bible says about each Person of the Godhead. Today we are establishing the fact that The Father is God.

As the First Person of the Trinity there are many aspects to the Father's unique identity, role, function, distinctive will and activity that it helps kick-start a deep and meaningful discussion regarding the other two Persons of the Trinity as well. It is virtually impossible to talk about one Person of the Trinity without speaking of the others in relationship with the First. So in today's message we will explore not only the function of God the Father, but also of the Son and the Hoy Spirit.

The task before us is like a Rubik cube ~ you spin one side to get a full color and understanding of the puzzle, yet it is complexly tied to the look of the whole. And therefore, as one experiences with trying to solve the Rubik cube mystery, one move is not independent of the other parts as they are all interrelated! So indeed it is with the Trinity, and you have to be ever so careful in how you speak about, address and understand each role of the Three Persons of the Trinity.

This Systematic Theology Series that covers the topic of the Triune God ~ The Holy Trinity comprised of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is an incredible topic! It is an amazing study of the most inner nature and essence of God and how He has revealed Himself to us through Scripture as the One True God, consisting of three distinct and divine Persons within one united essence!

Does that sound confusing? Interesting? Complex? Mysterious? You are not alone. This is one of the most incredible revelations the Bible gives to us in both the Old and New Testaments. We hope these messages will bring clarity to this revelation of who God is for you and that you will also feel more intimately and personally connected to God. This doctrine of the Trinity has the ability to enable you to relate to God in wonderful ways that you might have never dreamed possible: as your Heavenly Father, as the glorious Son who came to be your Savior, and as the indwelling Holy Spirit of God who has come to be our Comforter, Counselor, Teacher, Guide, Intercessor and Empowerment.

Our desire for this broader study of Systematic Theology is to take a practical look at the study of God and various elements of biblical and spiritual truth which are designed to help us all understand God and draw us nearer to Him as our Creator and to Jesus Christ as our Savior.
