Message #15 – The Triunity of God: The Holy Trinity (Part 2) – “Biblical Support for the Trinity"
Today's message focuses on the Biblical Support for the doctrine of the Trinity. As Kerry McRoberts says, Scripture alone is the Touchstone for the theology of the Christian Church. So we explore in today's message the hints and intimations of the Old Testament regarding the Holy Trinity as well as the bold declarations and allusions of the New Testament writers, including Jesus Himself.
I think you will possibly come to the same conclusion as myself, that there is nothing else like this incredible revelation of the Trinity in all of the known universe! It is majestic, yet unfathomable! Marvelous, yet incomprehensible! Wonderful, yet so out of reach! Incredible, yet so mysterious! It is indeed a truth that is so beautiful, glorious, magnificent, and worthy of all worship ~ Our God, the One True God, Manifested as Three Persons in One Being, that it humbles a person to the lowest possible level to even speak of, much less worship, the Triune God!
As an introduction to this group of messages in our Systematic Theology Series that covers the topic of the Triune God ~ The Holy Trinity comprised of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, let me tell you this is an incredible topic! It is an amazing study of the most inner nature and essence of God and how He has revealed Himself to us through Scripture as the One True God, consisting of three distinct and divine Persons within one united essence!
Does that sound confusing? Interesting? Complex? Mysterious? You are not alone. This is one of the most incredible revelations the Bible gives to us in both the Old and New Testaments. We hope these messages will bring clarity to this revelation of who God is for you and that you will also feel more intimately and personally connected to God. This doctrine of the Trinity has the ability to enable you to relate to God in wonderful ways that you might have never dreamed possible: as your Heavenly Father, as the glorious Son who came to be your Savior, and as the indwelling Holy Spirit of God who has come to be our Comforter, Counselor, Teacher, Guide, Intercessor and Empowerment.
Our desire for this broader study of Systematic Theology is to take a practical look at the study of God and various elements of biblical and spiritual truth which are designed to help us all understand God and draw us nearer to Him as our Creator and to Jesus Christ as our Savior.
