Message #17 – The Triunity of God: The Holy Trinity (Part 4) – “The Son is God”

Jan 31, 2021    Pastor Mark Geer    Series: Systematic Theology for Daily Living / Text: Matthew 16:13-17; 22:42; John 1:1-4, 14, 18; Colossians 1:15-18; 2:9; Hebrews 1:1-14; 1 John 5:20

In today's message we continue to look at the topic of the Holy Trinity as we examine what the Bible says about each Person of the Godhead. Today we are establishing the fact that The Son is God.

In fact, it was the question of the deity of Christ, the Son of God, and the great debate surrounding the Christological problem of the relationship of Jesus of Nazareth to the Father that historically caused the Church to formulate its doctrine of the Trinity. So in today's message we explore the numerous reasons and evidences in Scripture that affirm the truth that Jesus the Son truly is indeed authentically God! From His attributes of deity to the offices of deity He holds, and from His exercise of the prerogatives of deity to the names He is given that imply deity, as well as the relationship He has with the Father and the fact that He accepts and receives worship, there is no question that Jesus was conscious of the fact that He was God. The real question is do we believe that He is God?

This Systematic Theology Series that covers the topic of the Triune God ~ The Holy Trinity comprised of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is an incredible topic! It is an amazing study of the most inner nature and essence of God and how He has revealed Himself to us through Scripture as the One True God, consisting of three distinct and divine Persons within one united essence!

Does that sound confusing? Interesting? Complex? Mysterious? You are not alone. This is one of the most incredible revelations the Bible gives to us in both the Old and New Testaments. We hope these messages will bring clarity to this revelation of who God is for you and that you will also feel more intimately and personally connected to God. This doctrine of the Trinity has the ability to enable you to relate to God in wonderful ways that you might have never dreamed possible: as your Heavenly Father, as the glorious Son who came to be your Savior, and as the indwelling Holy Spirit of God who has come to be our Comforter, Counselor, Teacher, Guide, Intercessor and Empowerment.

Our desire for this broader study of Systematic Theology is to take a practical look at the study of God and various elements of biblical and spiritual truth which are designed to help us all understand God and draw us nearer to Him as our Creator and to Jesus Christ as our Savior.
