THE FEASTS OF GOD - #5 "The Feast of Pentecost"
Our series on The Feasts of God continues today with an in depth look at the holy convocations God called Israel to observe as a nation in Leviticus 23. These are prophetic feasts foreshadowing the coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Deliverer, and Savior of mankind.
In today’s message Pastor Mark Geer explores the Feast of Weeks, which is also known as the Feast of Pentecost or Shavuot. It goes by several other names as well in Scripture and among the Jews, including the Feast of Harvest and / or the Feast of Latter Firstfruits.
This feast of God is both a celebration of the culmination of the spring harvest going into the summer harvest and a time of great rejoicing. It commemorates the giving of the Law at Sinai and is given a powerful narration in the story of the Book of Ruth. However, it is also full of spiritual truths that foretell of a future harvest of souls, an establishment of the new covenant of God, and of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit prophesied by Joel (Joel 2:28-29) and fulfilled by Jesus 50 days after His resurrection on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) when He fulfilled the Father’s Promise.
Pastor Mark Geer takes us into the details of this wonderful feast of God and concludes with a time of Communion around the table of the Lord and special prayer for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
