THE FEASTS OF GOD - #6 "The Feast of Trumpets"
Our series on The Feasts of God continues today with an in depth look at the holy convocations God called Israel to observe as a nation in Leviticus 23. These are prophetic feasts foreshadowing the coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Deliverer, and Savior of mankind.
In today’s message Pastor Mark Geer explores the Feast of Trumpets. This feast has a more simple approach to it in Leviticus 23 than we’ve seen in some of the other feasts. It is a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, and a holy convocation. That’s primarily what is said about it.
However, the Jewish traditions have inferred multiple other connections and practices to it. Some of them can be supported with Scriptures that were written later on in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and others are in contradiction. We explore several of these in this message, including the possible associations, implications and inferences that are made by people concerning the Last Days, the Second Coming of the Lord, the Day of Judgment, the book of Revelation, and a whole host of other things.
We also look at the prophetic implications that might exist regarding the Feast of Trumpets and the Second Coming of Christ, in which the use of a great and final trumpet will be blown as a clarion call to God’s people that Christ is coming and the end is near. Trumpets had a powerful purpose among the Israelites, including the following:
1) Sounding an alarm to awaken the people.
2) Announcing the arrival of a king or party.
3) Announcing the arrival of judgment or danger.
4) A call to awaken God’s people to a gathering or feast.
