#21 The Church On Mission
Our series in the Book of Acts continues with today’s message on the Church on mission as they began to send our missionaries to preach the good news of the gospel in all the world.
The Biblical account in today’s message showcases the church in Antioch, where Barnabas and Saul were ministering. By the direction and anointing of the Holy Spirit the church sent out these two men as missionaries to the surrounding region. It was the first of its kind as a “sending church” and it sets an example for all of our churches today in the 21st Century!
The work Barnabas and Saul did on the Island of Cyprus was well received until the ran into opposition on the western end in a man names Bar-Jesus, a sorcerer and opposed to the gospel. However, we see how God performed a miracle and blessed the preaching of His Word so that the Roman Governor, Sergius Paulus (the proconsul) believes and was converted!
We are reminded in today’s text of three reasons why it is vital that the church needs to be on mission and engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission:
1) The Great Commission is Where God is Working!
2) The Great Commission is What God is Anointing!
3) The Great Commission is How God is Defeating the Enemy!
We hope you will be blessed by this message and if you would like further direction on following Jesus, please take a moment to reach out to us either by filling out a connection card with your information or emailing us directly or calling the church for more assistance. We would love to visit with you!
