#16 The Ministry of Saul & The Comfort of the Holy Spirit
Our series in the Book of Acts continues with today’s message on the ministry of Saul and the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
In today’s message Pastor Mark Geer follows the text as Saul’s ministry begins in infancy as he steps out in obedience to Christ’s calling and commissioning for him to preach the gospel. Opposition arises over a three year period to his ministry in Damascus until there is a plot to kill him, so the brethren attempt a daring rescue and send him down to Jerusalem.
It wasn’t a cozy place for a former persecutor to bed down, and the disciples in Jerusalem are warry of him. Nevertheless, with the help of Barnabas, Saul finds his place among the disciple and apostles and begins to preach and teach in Jerusalem until the same dilemma arises – another plot to kill him!
Saul is finally sent by ship to Tarsus (his home town) where Saul continues his ministry of preaching the gospel throughout Syria and Cilicia. As a result, we find that the Church experienced peace and rest, walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and was growing daily! Truly God’s favor was upon His people.
